This is a classic poem written by W. Livingston Larned. If you have young kids, please read it…..If you have read it before, read it again!
Father Forgets
Listen, son:
I am saying this as you lie asleep,
one little paw crumpled under your cheek and
the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead.
I have stolen into your room alone.
Just a few minutes ago,
as I sat reading my paper in the library,
a stifling wave of remorse swept over me.
Guiltily I came to your bedside. Read the rest of this entry

How to get people like you.
I was having dinner with a friend some time ago at a hotel restaurant in Denver Co. When we first sat down we waited for some time before our waitress came over to take our orders. We had seen her pass us by, and she had seen us sitting there for at least 10 minutes before she found the time to come to our table. The place was not busy at all, so I was mildly annoyed by the time she made her way to our table. When she got there, you could tell that she was not having a very good day. In fact you could say that she was annoyed that she had to deal with another customer. Before I even had a chance to say anything, my friend asked her in a very polite tone of voice “how is your day going?” She instantly got a smile on her face and said “thanks for asking, but I have had better days.” After talking with her for a few minutes, and hearing her story we learned that she had worked at the same hotel for over 20 years. A HARE one day ridiculed the short feet and slow pace of the Tortoise, who replied, laughing: ‘Though you be swift as the wind, I will beat you in a race.’ The Hare, believing her assertion to be simply impossible, assented to the proposal; and they agreed that the Fox should choose the course and fix the goal. On the day appointed for the race the two started together. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course. The Hare, lying down by the wayside, fell fast asleep. At last waking up, and moving as fast as he could, he saw the Tortoise had reached the goal, and was comfortably dozing after her fatigue.
Slow and steady wins the race.
The same goes for goal setting! Slow and steady wins the race every time. Taking consistent action towards a worthwhile goal is the key to success. Every day you need to do something towards the attainment of your goals! Even if it is as simple as making a phone call.
If you can get into the habit of taking baby steps every day you will be amazed at how it can transform your life!

Believing in yourself is one of the fundamentals of success. You have to believe you can achieve something BEFORE it ever happens! Believing in yourself is a learned skill but you can make the choice to believe in yourself at any time. Your beliefs are usually based on past experiences. If you have failed at something in the past, you may begin to believe that you are not capable of achieving it in the future. Here is the funny thing about beliefs though. They are not FACTS. A belief is nothing more than an opinion about the way something is.
